Hi, I'm Hannalah. I am your hometown poet

I create custom poems, typed on the spot, to bring you back to the moment

I know three things:1.) We all need help sometimes to feel less alone. To feel known.2.) We are alive when we are invited back to the present moment. When we gather, it is about what's happening in the now. Here. This. Nothing else.3.) I was born to write poems for others. You're planning something amazing. A wedding, a party, a gathering where you want people to feel something. You want a moment that they remember, that feels like it was made specifically for them. You want to give them a story and to celebrate who they are. This is where I come in: a typewriter, a stranger's story, and a poem that gives it back to them to hold.I am based in Oregon and Washington. Available to travel anywhere.

a little bit of

My Story

I've been writing poems since I was seven years old, most of that time in private. I was terrified to share my love of poetry. Over the years, through photography, through a published book, through open mics and strangers online, I learned that the fear was worth pushing through. No work has ever lit me up like custom poetry.I put it off for a long time, pursuing more 'sensible' work. After I hit major medical challenges, I realized I had no more time to waste. I had to write poems for people no matter what, so I switched my career, and no decision has ever felt so right. My mission is to use poetry to help others feel less alone. To celebrate who they are, the stories only they can tell, and what could change when we connect to ourselves and the present moment. To embrace what is possible when we meet each other with curiosity, creativity, and intentional presence.

How It Works

You tell me about your event: the people, the mood, your intentions, the story you want in the room.I show up with my typewriter and set up somewhere guests will naturally gather.Guests share a moment, a memory, or whatever's on their mind. I turn it into a poem, typed while they wait. They walk away with a piece of writing made only for them.

now for my favorite bit

Weddings

This is where I spend most of my heart.A wedding already holds a hundred small, unrepeatable moments, and most of them go unrecorded beyond the photographs. I set up near the reception and write custom poems for your guests, capturing the toasts half-remembered, a story no one's heard in years. It becomes a keepsake your guests take home, and a shared experience that runs through the whole day.And the best part: we set aside time to chat as me (the poet) and you (the couple). You tell me your love story and what brought you to today, so I can write a custom poem full of the beautiful and raw details of your love to encapsulate it forever. And according to your choice, I will happily read it for your guests, or let you keep it private to yourselves.[Note: Starting with 2027 bookings, I'll also be offering wedding officiant services as part of a package. Ask me about it if you're interested! The LGBTQ+ community is always and forever welcome in my books!]

“People kept bringing their poems back to the table to show everyone. My brother read his out loud, which was sweet and so fun. It gave people something to talk about and really helped us focus on what we were all there for in the first place. We cannot recommend this enough.”Priya & Daniel

“Hannah wrote one for us after we'd been married for almost five years. I am a super anxious person, but OMG this helped me so much. We were standing there with all our friends around us, and my poem brought me back to the love of my life. I kept it in my jacket pocket for the rest of the night. Thank you for everything, Hannah.”Eleanor & June

and I also adore writing poems at

Parties

Birthdays, anniversaries, markets, festivals, reunions, retirements: any gathering where you want the people to feel seen and appreciated. A typewriter poet turns small talk into something magical and memorable. It's playful, a little unexpected, and it gives your guests a reason to slow down and talk to each other.

last but not least

Branded & Corporate Events

For brands and organizations that want their event to feel human, I bring a live, personal touch that considers your gathering's intentions, culture, vision, and shared values. Attendees walk away with a physical, one-of-a-kind piece of writing tied to your experience.

What People Say

“The poems became something people were comparing and talking about, which was exactly what I hoped for. The typewriter ended up being one of the busiest parts of the room. Hannah is phenomenal for our company and got our culture immediately. Might fly her out for next year's party; it was that good. Thanks again.”Alex C, Event Director
